Mythril Knife

Mythril Knives are basic, non-elemental knife or dagger weapons that are made from mythril. They appear throughout the Final Fantasy franchise, and they first appear in Final Fantasy. Mythril Knives mainly appear in the earlier games.

Final Fantasy[edit]

In Final Fantasy, Mythril Knives can only be bought from the Weapon Shop in Crescent Lake. They can be bought for 640 gil and sold for 320 gil. In the original Nintendo Entertainment System version and the PlayStation version's Hard Mode, Mythril Knives cost 800 gil and can be sold for 400 gil. There are also three Mythril Knives that are found in treasure chests, in Mount Duergar, Marsh Cave, and Castle Cornelia (in a room which can be unlocked by the Mystic Key) respectively. In the original Nintendo Entertainment System release, Mythril Knives are known in-game as SILVER.

Mythril Knives can be used by Black Mage, Red Mage, Thief, Warrior and their respective upgrades, Black Wizard, Red Wizard, Ninja, and Knight.

Final Fantasy II[edit]

In Final Fantasy II, Mythril Knives are sold at the Weapon Shops in Altair and Machanon. They can be bought for 400 gil, which is slightly more expensive than in Final Fantasy, and sold for 200 gil. In the original Famicom version and the PlayStation version's Hard Mode, a Mythril Knife costs 800 gil and can be sold for 400 gil. Sometimes a General Borghen drops a knife when defeated in battle.

Final Fantasy IV[edit]

In Final Fantasy IV, Mythril Knives can be bought in Weapon Shops of Mythril for 3,000 gil, making them a lot more expensive than in the first three games. They can be sold for 1,500 gil. Mythril Knives deal extra damage to ghoul enemies and may inflict Silence on its target. A Mythril Knife is also sometimes dropped by a Mythril Golem if defeated. A Mythril Knife can be equipped by either Cecil, Kain, Rydia, Edward, Palom, or Edge.

Final Fantasy V[edit]

In Final Fantasy V, Mythril Knives can be bought at the Karnak Weapon Shop for 450 gil, making it a lot less expensive than in Final Fantasy IV. A Mythril Knife can sometimes be stolen from a Wyvern. Any job except Monk, White Mage, and Oracle can wield a Mythril Knife.

Final Fantasy VI[edit]

In Final Fantasy VI, Mythril Knives can be bought for 300 gil at South Figaro and Mobliz's Weapon Shops in the World of Balance. They can be sold for 150 gil. Mythril Knives can also be obtained by stealing them from Lesser Lopros or Guard Leader, both with a 7/8 chance, and have a 1/8 chance of being dropped by an Iron Fist. Both Terra and Gogo come pre-equipped with a Mythril Knife whenever they join the party. A Mythril Knife can be equipped by nearly any character except Sabin, Cyan, Gau, and Umaro.

In the original Super Nintendo release, they were known as Mithril Knife,[1], and prior to the Final Fantasy VI Advance release, their name was formatted MithrilKnife in-game.
