Melmond is a town found in Final Fantasy. It is found to the east of the Devil's Tail on the world map. The Warriors of Light can travel to here from their ship once Nerrick completes a canal on the Aldean Sea.
Long ago, Melmond had an abundance of plants which that grow and flourish from fertile soil. One day, Lich drained the Earth Crystal's power, which resulted in the ground decaying. Lich ordered the Vampire to destroy the town's Sanctuary, resulting in the death of numerous citizens. Although the Warriors of Light cannot use a Sanctuary, they can stay at an Inn for 100 gil per night. There is no Item Shop in Melmond
Melmond is home to Dr. Unne, a boastful scholar who researches Lefenish, an ancient language spoke by the Lufenians. When the Warriors of Light obtain the Rosetta Stone, they return to Melmond and give it to Dr. Unne, who deciphers the tablet and uses it to teach Lefenish to the warriors. By learning the language, the warriors can talk to the Lufenians in Lufenia.
