Final Fantasy Wiki:About
Final Fantasy Wiki is an independent wiki covering Final Fantasy and related franchises. It was founded in January 2020 by members of the Square Enix Independent Wiki Alliance, as they did not have a representative wiki for Final Fantasy, the flagship franchise of Square Enix. The wiki utilizes a format that is derived from both the Kingdom Hearts Wiki and the Super Mario Wiki.
The Final Fantasy Wiki was created in response to Super Mario Wiki member Results May Vary urging both Tacopill and KeybladeSpyMaster to create it, regardless of how arduous the others believed the task to be. Results May Vary laid the groundwork and structure of the Final Fantasy Wiki, and being a Mario and Donkey Kong fan, he decided that Mario Hoops 3-on-3 would be the wiki's first article. Like the others, Results May Vary was intimidated at the task of working on a new Final Fantasy Wiki, especially from being an outsider to the Square Enix fanbase, but he envisioned a unique style for the wiki to acknowledge that Final Fantasy is more than just a franchise consisting of RPG games, even though games such as Chocobo Racing come few and far between.
In August 2021, some time after over 500 articles had been established on the Final Fantasy Wiki, Results May Vary created the Wiki of Mana as a "baby brother" to Triforce Wiki, but its relation to the Final Fantasy Wiki is that Results May Vary did not want to link to Fandom for in-depth coverage on the Mana series, specifically the first installment, Final Fantasy Adventure, because it has a remake titled Sword of Mana that removes connections to the Final Fantasy franchise.
Around the time when the Wiki of Mana was founded, Results May Vary was imagining a potential wiki on the SaGa games, as its first three installments for the Game Boy were specifically localized in North America as The Final Fantasy Legend, Final Fantasy Legend II and Final Fantasy Legend III respectively. Just like Mana, Results May Vary did not want to link to a Fandom wiki for more in-depth information on the Final Fantasy Legend remakes. A problem was that, although Results May Vary had the "sagawiki.org" domain in reserve, he was not committed to developing a SaGa Wiki from the ground up. This is because, unlike Mana, he had too many other wiki projects, did not enjoy the games as much as Mana or Final Fantasy, and felt that creating a wiki specifically to resolve a coverage issue was an illegitimate reason for starting the wiki. This problem was resolved in December 2021 when Results May Vary forked the SaGa Wiki off Fandom with the community's approval.
