Rosa Farrell is the childhood friend of and love interest for Cecil Harvey. She is a White Mage and archer who first appears in Final Fantasy IV.
History[edit]
Final Fantasy IV[edit]
At the start of Final Fantasy IV, Cecil meets Rosa in Baron Castle, but only for a brief moment, just before he is instructed to deliver a Bomb Ring to Mist, causing it to be destroyed. Upon hearing about this, Rosa immediately departs Baron in search of Cecil. When crossing the Kaipo Desert, she comes down with desert fever. Soon, Cecil finds Rosa in Kaipo. He learns that the only way to save her is by obtaining the Sand Ruby in Antlion Cave. After doing so, the party goes to Rosa and gives her the Sand Ruby, thus curing her.
Then the party of four embarks to keep the four Light Crystals safe and out of the hands of evil. Soon after Rosa joins, the party rescues Yang Fang Leiden from an ambush on Mount Hobs. He decides to accompany the party to Fabul. When Cecil, Edward, and Yang defend the Air Crystal from Baron's evil forces, they soon encounter Kain, who has become evil and wipes them out. After this, he kidnaps Rosa and takes her to the Tower of Zot.
To get Rosa back, Cecil must give Kain the Earth Crystal from the Magnetic Cavern. After obtaining this, Cecil, along with Tellah, Yang, and Cid Pollendina, go to the Tower of Zot. When Tellah gives his own life to weaken Golbez's mind-control powers on Kain, Rosa and Kain join the party once again.
Rosa remains in the party for the rest of the adventure and eventually, with Cecil, Kain, Rydia, and Edge, faces of against Zemus on the moon - who was using Golbez and Kain as his own puppets to conquer the world. At the end of the game, Rosa marries Cecil and becomes the Queen of Baron.
Final Fantasy IV -Interlude-[edit]
After marrying Cecil, Rosa has a son named Ceodore; her pregnancy causes her absence from most of Final Fantasy IV -Interlude-.
Final Fantasy IV: The After Years[edit]
In Final Fantasy IV: The After Years, Rosa is kidnapped by Kain's dark self. Once back to safety, Rosa joins her old friends as they fight to save their world from the threat of the True Moon. During the encounter with the Dark Knight, Rosa intervenes when he attempts to murder Golbez, and the two of them battle the Dark Knight by themselves and later with Ceodore until Cecil is able to end the battle himself.

Behind the scenes[edit]
Some databases may catalog Rosa with the full name Rosa Joanna Farrell. However, the vast majority of Japanese material does not corroborate such naming, as found by editors of FANDOM's Final Fantasy Wiki. The middle name is known to have been used in English documentation for Final Fantasy IV DS as well as in Rosa's video trailer for the now-defunct Dissidia Final Fantasy Opera Omnia. "Joanna", a feminine alternate of the Semito-Hellenic John, meaning "YHWH is gracious", was thought to be the given name of Rosa's still-unnamed mother. In light of mounting evidence that omits the middle name, it should not be used in reference to this character. "Rosa Joanna Farrell" remains as a redirect to avoid breaking links created prior to this correction.
