Nintendo Entertainment System
The Nintendo Entertainment System, or NES for short, is an 8-bit home console created by Nintendo, and was first released in New York City on October 18, 1985 and later nationwide in North America on September 27, 1986. It is a redesigned and rebranded version of the Family Computer, or Famicom that was first released in Japan on July 13, 1983.
On November 11, 2016, Nintendo released a miniature replica with HDMI support, the NES Classic Edition (known as the Nintendo Classic Mini: Nintendo Entertainment System in Europe). It has 30 built-in NES games, one of them being Final Fantasy. Nintendo released the Nintendo Classic Mini: Family Computer in Japan on the same day as the NES Classic Edition which instead features Final Fantasy III as one of the built-in games.
Games[edit]
In Japan, the first three games were released for the Famicom and a compilation of the first two games. In North America, only the first game of the Final Fantasy series was released. None of the NES games were released in Europe.
