Killer Fish are carnivorous piranha fish-like enemies that appear in some Final Fantasy games, mainly the earlier ones. They first appear in Final Fantasy II. In most of their appearances, Killer Fish have an orange body. Killer Fish are vulnerable to lightning attacks.

Game appearances[edit]

Final Fantasy II[edit]

In Final Fantasy II, Killer Fish are encountered in the Sea. For the most part, they are basic enemies, although their attack may poison their target.

While Killer Fish's sprite depicts them in their usual orange color, their color artwork shows them with a blue and purple body as well as red eyes. In the remakes, Killer Fish's sprite is in a different pose than in the Famicom version. In the original Famicom version, Killer Fish's sprite depict them with having blue eyes, teeth, and back fins. In the WonderSwan Color, PlayStation, and Game Boy Advance releases, Killer Fish have lighter blue fins, and their eyes are light green as well as some of their frontal fin. In the PlayStation Portable version, Killer Fish have green fins, but their tail was changed to dark purple.

Final Fantasy IV[edit]

In Final Fantasy IV, Killer Fish are encountered in the Underground Waterway and the surrounding areas of Mysidia and Damcyan. In the Super Nintendo and PlayStation releases, they are named Pike. They have a larger body than in Final Fantasy II.
