The Dragon's Neck Coliseum is a battle arena found in the northwest corner of the World of Ruin in Final Fantasy VI. It is a place where two characters wager an item and then fight, either as a sport or for profit.[1] Some of the rewarded items cannot be obtained elsewhere. Prior to Final Fantasy VI Advance, the place was simply named Colosseum.
In the World of Balance, the place is only a small cabin named the Dragon's Neck Cabin. Its owner wanted to own an arena where fighters would compete. His wish was eventually granted when Kefka formed the World of Ruin, as the entire world became filled with war.
If Shadow has survived the Floating Continent and has been rescued from the Cave on the Veldt, a party member can fight him in the Dragon's Neck Coliseum if they bet an Ichigeki. If the party member wins the battle, Shadow rejoins their group.
Gameplay[edit]
Before starting a battle, the player must select an item to wager. In doing so, they can see their opponent and their wagered item, which itself depends on the item wagered by the player. For example, if the player wagers a valuable item, their opponent will as well. During a battle, both participants' actions are decided by the game itself. After a battle, the winner is rewarded with their opponent's wagered item, although they are not given back their own.
