Ice Lizards are a type of enemy in Final Fantasy II and Final Fantasy IV and its sequels. Ice Lizards can absorb any ice-based attacks, but are vulnerable to Fire attacks.

History[edit]

Final Fantasy II[edit]

In Final Fantasy II, Ice Lizards are found in a few locations: Mysidian Tower (8F), Jade Passage (B1-B6), and Pandaemonium (1F-9F). Starting with the PlayStation Portable version, Ice Lizards are also found in Arcane Labyrnith. During battle, Ice Lizards can cast the Icestorm spell.

In the original Famicom version, Ice Lizards have a green sprite. In the WonderSwan Color and Game Boy Advance versions, Ice Lizards have a different pose. Their body is blue, their spikes are light green, and both their eyes and tongue are yellow. In the PlayStation Portable version, their body was changed to dark blue, their back to purple, and their spikes and horns have a fossil-like color. Ice Lizards' pose was changed again to resemble their pose in the original Famicom version as well as Final Fantasy IV.

Final Fantasy IV[edit]

In Final Fantasy IV, Ice Lizards are encountered in the Tower of Zot and Lunar Ruins. In the Super Nintendo and PlayStation versions, their name is formatted IceLiz. In earlier versions and the 3D remake, Ice Lizards have a dark purple body, but in the Final Fantasy IV: The Complete Collection release, their sprite was changed to light blue.
