Gigas Worms are large worms with a set of sharp teeth. They appear in several Final Fantasy games, starting with the first Final Fantasy. Most Gigas Worms are purple, and they are vulnerable to fire-based attacks.
Game appearances[edit]
Final Fantasy[edit]
In Final Fantasy, Gigas Worms are encountered in several areas of the world map. This includes the surrounding areas of Cornelia, Matoya's Cave, Pravoka, Elfheim, Western Keep, Mount Duergar, Melmond, and the Cavern of Ice. They are also encountered in present-day Chaos Shrine. In the original Nintendo Entertainment System version, Gigas Worms are named CREEPS, and their sprite shows them with a mostly pink body. The MSX2 version depicts Gigas Worms as light orange and red, and is the only version to do so. Since the Final Fantasy Origins remake, their legs were changed to white.
Final Fantasy II[edit]
Gigas Worms only appear in later remakes of Final Fantasy II, starting with Final Fantasy I & II: Dawn of Souls. They are encountered on floors B1–B6 of Raqia. They have a lot more HP than in Final Fantasy, but most of their other stats were only increased slightly, except their attack, which was nearly doubled.
Gigas Worms have a vastly different appearance than in Final Fantasy. They have a rounder, green body, a purple underbelly, a round mouth with more sharp teeth, several purple spikes protruding from their head, and purple lips that circle around their mouth. In Final Fantasy I & II: Dawn of Souls, Gigas Worms have several small, purple legs like those of a centipede. Their legs were removed for the PlayStation Portable version.
