Goblin Guards are enemies that appear in Final Fantasy and Final Fantasy II. They are a stronger variant of Goblins and are about twice their strength.

Game appearances

Final Fantasy

In Final Fantasy, Goblin Guards look the same as Goblins except they wear blue clothes and a purple hood. Despite being a variant, Goblin Guards are encountered in more areas. On average, Goblin Guards have twice as powerful stats than that of a Goblin. In the original Nintendo Entertainment System, they are named Grey Imp,[1] but within the game itself, their name is formatted GrIMP.

Goblin Guards are encountered in the surrounding areas of Cornelia, Chaos Shrine, Pravoka, Elfheim, Marsh Cave, Mount Gulg, and Cavern of Ice. They also encountered within the present Chaos Shrine, Devil's Tail, and the Cavern of Earth (floor B4).

Final Fantasy II

In Final Fantasy II, Goblin Guards have a much different appearance; they resemble Goblins from this game but are green-skinned. Goblin Guards share most of the same stats, except their HP is doubled. They also have a level-1 Bow ability.

Goblin Guards are encountered in the surrounding areas of Paloom, Poft, and Salamand. They are also found within Bafsk Cave (floor B1), Semitt Falls (floor B1–B5), the Snow Cavern (floor B1-B4), and various parts of the Arcane Labyrinth, including Candelabra, Dreadnought, Mirror, Mythril, Sunfire, and Wild Rose.
