Cottage

From Final Fantasy Wiki
Jump to navigationJump to search

Cottages (コテージ Kotēji?) are a restorative item which appear in some of the earlier Final Fantasy games, starting with the first Final Fantasy. If used, a Cottage entirely restore the HP and MP of every party member, making them a more effective variant of Tents. Like Tents, Cottages can only be used on the world map or at Save Points.

History[edit]

Final Fantasy series[edit]

Final Fantasy[edit]

In Final Fantasy, Cottages can be bought from a few Item Shops for 2,000 gil each and sold for 1,000 gil each. In the Nintendo Entertainment System version and the PlayStation version's Hard Mode, they instead cost 3,000 gil and can be sold for 1,500 gil. In earlier releases, there are eight treasure chests containing a Cottage, the same number as those with a Tent. Starting with the PlayStation Portable remake, a ninth treasure chest with a Cottage was added. Because Cottages are a lot more expensive than Tents, it is harder for the Warriors of Light to acquire them.

In the original Nintendo Entertainment System release, they are named HOUSE, also formatted House.[1]

Ways to obtain a Cottage
Item Shops: Gaia, Onrac
Treasure chests: Marsh Cave (B3), Castle Cornelia, Mount Duergar, Mount Gulg (B4), Citadel of Trials (3F), Dragon Caves, Mirage Tower (2F), Flying Fortress (2F), Labyrinth of Time (Stone Trap)
Enemies: Crocodile

Kingdom Hearts[edit]

Kingdom Hearts Wiki article: Cottage

In Kingdom Hearts, Cottages fully restore the HP and MP of every party member. This is unlike Tents, which only fully restore the HP of every party member. In Kingdom Hearts II and Kingdom Hearts III, Tents have the same functionality as Cottages do in Kingdom Hearts, so Cottages do not appear in either game.
