Warg Wolf is an enemy in a few Final Fantasy games, and it debuts in the first Final Fantasy game. They are a variant of Wolf.
Game appearances
Final Fantasy
In Final Fantasy Warg Wolves are mainly found at areas on the world map but also appear in a few caves. They are found in the surrounding areas of Cornelia, Chaos Shrine, Pravoka, Elfheim, Western Keep, Marsh Cave, Mount Duergar, Melmond, and outside of Cavern of Earth. Warg Wolves are found within present-day Chaos Shrine, Marsh Cave (floors B2 and B3), Giant's Cave, and the Cavern of Earth (floors B2 and B3). Warg Wolves drop an Antidote when defeated.
In the Nintendo Entertainment System version, Warg Wolves are named GrWOLF, a shortening of GREY WOLF[1][2] In the Nintendo Entertainment System release, its sprite is light blue and purple. In the MSX2 release, Warg Wolf's sprite is pink. Ironically, Warg Wolf only became gray by the Japan-exclusive WonderSwan Color release, and have since been named Warg Wolf with the release of Final Fantasy Origins, which uses a nearly identical sprite to the WonderSwan Color release. Starting with the WonderSwan Color version, Warg Wolves have a red back and tail. In the Game Boy Advance version, like the other wolves, Warg Wolf's sprite was significantly brightened. Starting with the PlayStation Portable version, Warg Wolves have spikes on their back.
