This article is about the town. For the kingdom of the same name, see Baron (kingdom).

Baron, also known as Baron City[1] and the Town of Baron in the original Super Nintendo release, is a town and a starting location of Final Fantasy IV. It is the titular landmark area of the Baron kingdom, and is ruled by a monarchy in Baron Castle. Baron is home to Cecil, Rosa, Cid, and their families.

History[edit]

At the start of their journey, Cecil and Kain are given a package to deliver to Mist. They go to Baron and purchase supplies from the Item Shop for the journey ahead.

After Cecil becomes a Paladin, he and three other party members (Palom, Porom, and Tellah) return from Mysidia to Baron via the Devil's Road. They find Yang in the bar, but he attacks the party because he had lost some of his memory after being attacked by a Leviathan. After defeating Yang, he regains his senses and joins the party. He also gives them the Baron Key, which the party use to open the entrance to Old Waterway and infiltrate Baron Castle. The key also allows them to access the shared Weapon & Armor Shops building.

Once the party has defeated Cagnazzo in Baron Castle, peace is restored to Baron.

  • Inn: It costs 50 gil to stay here for a night. There is a Pub on the upper floor, where two Baron Guardsmen and Yang are fought.

Trivia[edit]

  • In the North American Final Fantasy II release and Final Fantasy IV Easy-Type, Baron's map was slightly changed from the original Super Famicom release, mainly to move the bottom-left building slightly higher so that it is directly left of the Item Shop. As a result, the lower-left wall was slightly expanded.
