Black Widows are basic spider enemies that appear in Final Fantasy. Although real world black widows are poisonous, these ones do not poison their opponents. Black Widows are encountered in present-day Chaos Shrine and floors B1–B3 of Marsh Cave. In the Nintendo Entertainment System version, Black Widows were named SPIDER and are dark green. In the MSX2 version, they have a blue sprite. The WonderSwan Color version is the first that introduces them with a black body and red stripes, which suggests that they were a generic spider in the first two versions.
