Ogopogo is a long, purple sea serpent who appears in Final Fantasy IV as a boss. It is also featured in the title of Square Enix's defunct newsletter, Ogopogo Examiner.

History[edit]

Final Fantasy IV[edit]

In Final Fantasy IV, Ogopogo is fought as a boss in the Lunar Core area of the Lunar Subterrane. It is found guarding the Musamane, and the party must fight Ogopogo in order to retrieve it. Its first move in the battle is using Deluge twice in a row. When defeated, Ogopogo rewards a lot of experience points to the party, although no gil.

In the 3D remake, Ogopogo rewards 25,000 gil when defeated, and has the Musamane as an item drop instead of the party acquiring it right after defeating Ogopogo.

Trivia[edit]

  • Ogopogo is featured in a two-page ad for the original Super Nintendo version titled "Ogopogo Lives."[1] It depicts two clawed red hands breaking through the paper, even though Ogopogo does not have them.
  • The Bradygames guide for Final Fantasy IV's 3D remake incorrectly lists the Murasame as the item drop for Ogopogo.[2]
