Airships are aerial transportation vehicles that appear throughout the Final Fantasy series, starting with the first game, Final Fantasy. In nearly every main series game, a character named Cid has his own airship.
History
Final Fantasy
In Final Fantasy, an airship is buried within the Ryukahn Desert, and the Warriors of Light can unearth it by using the Levistone. The airship is the last transportation vehicle found by the Warriors of Light. It moves at a high speed, allowing the Warriors of Light to quickly travel around the overworld. The airship can only land on patches of grass, and if the warriors try to park it on any other terrain, the airship goes back up into the air. The Warriors of Light do not encounter any enemies while riding the airship.
