Ghouls are undead enemies and a stronger variant of Zombies. They appear in several games of the Final Fantasy franchise, starting with the first game, Final Fantasy. Ghouls usually have a drastically different appearance for each of the games. Like Zombies, Ghouls are vulnerable to Dia and Fire-based attacks.
Game appearances[edit]
Final Fantasy[edit]
In Final Fantasy, Ghouls are found at the surrounding areas of Marsh Cave, Melmond, and Devil's Tail from the world map. They also appear in present-day Chaos Shrine and Marsh Cave (floors B1 and B2). When a Ghoul attacks their opponent, it can inflict them with paralysis. In the original Nintendo Entertainment System version, their name is formatted as GHOUL.
Ghouls are a palette swap of Zombies. Starting with the WonderSwan Color version, they have a green skin and a purple cloak. Like Zombies, they were given a different pose in the PlayStation Portable version.
