The Final Fantasy Legend, known in Japan as Makai Toushi Sa·Ga, is a video game released for the Game Boy in December 1989 by Square Co., Ltd. It is the first game in the SaGa series and the first role-playing video game for the Game Boy. The North American release was linked to the Final Fantasy franchise for marketing-related purposes. Sunsoft re-released it in North America during 1998. Square followed with a remake for the WonderSwan Color and mobile phones in 2002 and 2007 respectively, both dropping the connection to the Final Fantasy franchise. The game spawned two sequels, Final Fantasy Legend II and Final Fantasy Legend III. In December 2020, all three games were re-released for the Nintendo Switch compilation title, Collection of SaGa Final Fantasy Legend.
