Final Fantasy Tactics Advance is a tactical RPG and a spinoff of the Final Fantasy series. It was released for the Game Boy Advance in 2003, and is only original Final Fantasy title (besides Dice de Chocobo) to be released for the handheld. Final Fantasy Tactics Advance is an indirect sequel to Final Fantasy Tactics but retains its core gameplay; the player has to assemble a clan of characters and control their actions over grid-like battlefields. For the most part, the player can select the classes, abilities, and statistics for their characters. In 2016, Final Fantasy Advance Tactics was re-released for the Wii U's Virtual Console.

Final Fantasy Tactics Advance later received an actual sequel for the Nintendo DS, titled Final Fantasy Tactics A2: Grimoire of the Rift.
