Hornets are insect enemies based on the real world insect of the same name. In the Final Fantasy franchise, Hornets made their debut in Final Fantasy II.
History[edit]
Final Fantasy II[edit]
In Final Fantasy II, Hornets are common enemies that are found in many surrounding areas of the overworld. In battle, Hornets attack using their stinger, which sometimes inflicts a party member with the Venom status. In most versions, Hornets have a green and red body, but in the PlayStation Portable version, Hornets were entirely redesigned to have a blue body with yellow legs and wings. In all versions, Hornets have entirely red eyes. They have a stronger counterpart named Queen Bee.
Hornets are encountered in surrounding areas of Altair, Fynn, Paloom, Poft, Salamand, and Kashuan. They are also encountered in Fynn (before Gottos is defeated), Bafsk Cave (B1, 1F), Kashuan Keep (1F), and the Arcane Labyrinth.
