Djinn is a demon who is a boss in Final Fantasy III and its 3D remake

Story[edit]

When an earthquake struck the Floating Continent, the Djinn broke free of the seal cast upon him by the royal bloodline of Sasune. He then cursed the region, turning those within it into ghosts. However, a select few were able to escape before the curse was laid, including Princess Sara and, in the 3D remake, the royal retainer Ingus, and the blacksmith-in-training Refia.

According to legend, the Djinn was sealed in a Mythril Ring ages ago. Sara heads to Djinn's Cave in hopes of sealing the demon. She joins the party once the Warriors of Light assemble and meet her there. When they reach the altar of the Djinn, he taunts and attacks them. Sara tries to use her Mythril Ring, but an unseen force has made the Djinn too powerful for it to work. The five have no choice but to engage him. They succeed, and the Djinn is weakened. In the 3D remake, the four youths destined as the Warriors of Light are whisked back to the Altar Cave to receive the power of the Wind Crystal. In all versions, Sara recaptures the Djinn and directs the party to throw the ring into a pool of holy water below Sasune to lift the curse. She leaves once this task is done.
