Battles, also known as encounters, are a gameplay element featured in nearly every Final Fantasy game since the first game, and are a core staple of RPGs in general. A battle involves a character or a party fighting one or more enemies or a boss. There are several different types of battles, with random encounters and fixed encounters being some of the most frequent types of battles.
