PlayStation 2
The PlayStation 2 is the second home console in Sony's PlayStation line. It is the successor to the PlayStation, and it was first released in 2000. The PlayStation 2 is the best-selling home console of all time, selling over 150 million units by the end of its lifespan. It has the longest official support over any other console, from 2000–2016. Nearly every Final Fantasy game for the console was released as an exclusive, although most were also released for PC.
Games[edit]
Three main series games were first released on PlayStation 2, originally as console exclusives: Final Fantasy X, Final Fantasy XI, and Final Fantasy XII. The games respectively make up the 10th, 11th, and 12th installments of the main series.
There are two PlayStation 2 games that are a follow-up of a main series game: Final Fantasy X-2, a direct sequel to Final Fantasy X, and Dirge of Cerberus -Final Fantasy VII-, a game of the Compilation of Final Fantasy VII series.
The console is also notable for having the first two games of the Kingdom Hearts series, Kingdom Hearts and Kingdom Hearts II. A third Kingdom Hearts game was released for PlayStation 2, Kingdom Hearts Re:Chain of Memories, which is a remake of the Game Boy Advance game, Kingdom Hearts: Chain of Memories.
