First appearance | Final Fantasy VI (1994) |
Magna Roaders are monster vehicle enemies who have three wheels as their extremities, with two smaller ones in front and a larger one behind, enabling them to be either bipedal or quadrupedal. They first appear in Final Fantasy VI, and have later been featured in World of Final Fantasy. In their appearances, Magna Roaders are featured in a few color variations, including purple, red, and yellow. In Final Fantasy VI, Magna Roaders also have a brown variation.
History[edit]
Final Fantasy VI[edit]
In Final Fantasy VI, purple and yellow Magna Roaders are larger than their red and brown counterparts. However, each type of Magna Roader has its own set of abilities and stats. Purple and yellow Magna Roaders can use Wheel, but red and brown Magna Roaders instead use Slam. Purple and brown Magna Roaders can use both Fire and Fira, but red and yellow Magna Roaders can use Blizzard and Blizzara. When a party member uses Steal on any type of Magna Roader, there is a 7/8 chance of the party acquiring a Shuriken and a 1/8 chance of acquiring a Lightning Scroll. Whenever a Magna Roader is defeated, there is a 1/8 chance of it dropping a specific type of scroll, depending on the type; for purple and yellow variants it is a Water Scroll, and for the smaller red and brown variants, it is a Flame Scroll.
Purple and red Magna Roaders are encountered in the Magitek Research Facility, during the escape on the mine cart rails, which ends with a boss fight against Number 128. Later on, in the World of Ruin, the party encounters yellow and brown Magna Roaders in both the north and south passages of Narshe Mines.
