Conquest

Conquest is a core gameplay system in Final Fantasy XI, representing a system of territorial control that affects the world of Vana'diel depending on the nations' current standing.

Rules[edit]

Gaining points[edit]

Four factions are considered competitors in Conquest: the three starting cities (Bastok, San d'Oria, and Windurst) and the beastmen, non-playable races generally considered antagonistic. Jeuno also participates in Conquest as a neutral arbitrator.

Players participate in Conquest by gaining the Signet status, which must be obtained from a Conquest overseer affiliated with their home nation or with Jeuno — usually found at their cities' gates or in each nation's embassy. Under this status, players gain Conquest Points (CP) based on experience gained by killing monsters; gaining CP will increase the influence of the player's home nation over the current region. Those points can then be spent on items from the overseers.

Conquest Points can also be gained by:

  • Trading equipment to vendors at designated outposts
  • Running supply quests for Conquest outposts
  • Participating in Expeditionary Force quests
  • Participating in Garrison quests
  • Participating in the Researchers from the West questline

Ranking[edit]

Whatever nation has the highest influence over a region gets control over it. The beastmen gain influence when players are killed by monsters in a region; if the beastmen have the highest total, they control it instead of any of the nations.

The three nations are also ranked overall, depending on how many regions they control. If one nation gains a big enough lead, players of the other two nations can make use of each other's conquest overseers, effectively allying to unseat the top nation.

Every sunday at Midnight (Japan standard time), the Conquest Tally — in which the nations' regional influence is compiled and ranked — is counted, and the rankings are reset. Some quests are repeatable only once per Conquest Tally. Players can learn how much time remains until the next tally by talking to a Conquest overseer, by selecting "Region Info" → "Conquest" from the main menu, or by typing "/regionmap" or "/rmap" in the chat box.
