A Nintendo Entertainment System

The Nintendo Entertainment System, or NES for short, is an 8-bit game console released by Nintendo in 1985. It was first released in Japan in 1983, as the Family Computer, also known as the Famicom.

On November 11, 2016, Nintendo released a miniature replica with HDMI support, the NES Classic Edition (known as the Nintendo Classic Mini: Nintendo Entertainment System in Europe and the Nintendo Classic Mini: Family Computer in Japan). It has 30 built-in Nintendo Entertainment System games, one of them being Final Fantasy. The Japanese Famicom Mini has Final Fantasy III built in instead.

Games

In Japan, the first three games were released for the Famicom and a compilation of the first two games. In North America, only the first game of the Final Fantasy series was released. None of the Nintendo Entertainment System games were released in Europe.
