The Echo Screen, also known as the Echo Herbs, Echo Grass, or Echo Drops (Japanese: やまびこ草 yamabiko sō, "echo herbs/grass" or やまびこえんまく yamabiko enmaku, "echo smokescreen"), is an item found in several Final Fantasy games that is used to cure the Silence status effect. The item first appeared in Final Fantasy III for the Famicom.
In Japanese, the "Echo Smokescreen" (やまびこえんまく) name is used only in Final Fantasy VI and VII, while all other games use the "Echo Herbs" (やまびこ草) name. The English versions of the games do not follow the Japanese in this, however, and use "Echo Screen" in Final Fantasy VI, VII, VIII, IX, and X; "Echo Herbs" in III, IV, and XII; "Echo Grass" in I&II: Dawn of Souls; and "Echo Drops" in XI and XIV.
