The Blight is an environmental disaster in Final Fantasy XVI that renders regions in Valisthea uninhabitable.

Blighted lands are stripped of its Aether, meaning no trees or plants can grow and the water turns black. Magic also cannot be used in Blighted lands, though Dominants can still prime as they use the Aether with their bodies. As vegetation die out, humans and animals are driven to new unblighted regions, Beastmen coming too close to human civilization, resulting in violent conflicts.

Though the populace of the Twins doesn't realize it, the Blight is caused by human action due to the overuse of Magic and the Mothercrystals.
