Adamantoise are a turtle species that appear in several games of the Final Fantasy franchise, starting with their debut in Final Fantasy II. Adamantoises have appeared in varying sizes throughout their appearances, and several of them are enemies but some Adamantoises are bosses. They have a thick shell armor that give them high defense capabilities.
In Final Fantasy Fables: Chocobo Tales, an Adamantoise is the main character of the first picture book, "The Adamantoise and the Cactuar", where it takes the role of the tortoise from the basis story, The Tortoise and the Hare.
