A Super Nintendo Entertainment System
The Super Famicom, the original and Japanese equivalent of the Super Nintendo Entertainment System

The Super Nintendo Entertainment System, known in Japan as Super Famicom, is a 16-bit home console created by Nintendo and the successor to the original Nintendo Entertainment System. In Japan, the Super Famicom released in 1990, and in North America it was released in 1991.

On September 29, 2017, a dedicated version of the Super Nintendo was released, the SNES Classic Edition, known as the Nintendo Classic Mini: Super Nintendo Entertainment System in Europe and Australia and Nintendo Classic Mini: Super Famicom in Japan, and it has a near-replica design of the original Super Nintendo (or Super Famicom in Japan). It has 21 pre-installed titles, with Final Fantasy VI being one of them.

Games[edit]

Three games of the main Final Fantasy series and a few spinoffs were released for the console.
