Revealed during a Sony State of Play livestream in early 2021, ''Intergrade'' was released June 10 of the same year in order to bridge the technical gap between the preceding [[PlayStation 4]] and the newly released PS5. As such, the game features upscaled graphics and other optimizations as well as new missions on top of quality-of-life improvements since the original release. Current owners of the PS4 original can in effect crossgrade and transfer existing progress data upon obtaining the new release, which includes access to a new downloadable episode featuring [[Yuffie Kisaragi]] called ''Episode INTERmission''.
