—In-game description

Cliffhanger is a microgame in Final Fantasy Fables: Chocobo Tales. In Story Mode, the microgame can be played at Mt. Magma. To find it, Chocobo must go up the first beanstalk in the location, then go right and follow a straightforward path until he finds an adamantoise shell.

Gameplay[edit]

The gameplay is done from the bottom screen, and the top screen shows the microgame's logo. When the microgame is started, the in-game view quickly zooms the top of a slope, where an adamantoise walks to the edge. There are some numbered signposts along the way, indicating how many meters away from the edge the adamantoise is. There are five signposts, starting with a "200" at the top of the slope (indicating that the slope is 200 meters long), then a "150", a "100", a "50", and lastly a "20" signpost.

The three-second countdown starts as the adamantoise walks into view and gets into its shell. When the microgame starts, the adamantoise starts sliding down the slope at high speed. Immediately after it passes the 20m signpost, the player must tap the adamantoise with their stylus, causing it to skid before stopping. The adamantoise's distance to the edge is measured, and then the microgame ends. If the adamantoise slides off the edge, the player loses the microgame.
